Mustered September 11, 1861, Camp Dennison, three years. Promoted Sergeant, March 13, 1862. Discharged with disability August 14, 1863, Anderson Station, TN.

Saw action in Andrews Raid.

Captured April 15, 1862, near Lafayette, GA; paroled via City Point, VA. Declared exchanged June 26, 1863.

Awarded Medal of Honor, March 25, 1863.
